I would like to disagree with you on the fact that this is merely a bad trip, in reverse, to the tacky and triteness of 1980's nostalgia. From the opening chords to the, to the perminating melody right up to the sanguine chorus, this song has it all. Maybe the poofy hairstyles and overall optimism aren't your thing; however the song itself is extremely effective.
